 | A Minnesota native, Wally McCarthy was born in Rush City, MN and as a youth moved to Newport, MN. He served in the Navy in World War II and the Korean War.
Wally McCarthy began his career in the automobile industry in 1949 when he was hired as an Accountant-Manager by a S. St. Paul Oldsmobile Dealer, Ed Peters. His first dealership, McCarthy Motors opened in So. St. Paul in 1953. In 1958, Mr. McCarthy became a partner in Towns Edge Oldsmobile in Hopkins. He sold his partnership in 1962 and moved to Richfield, MN. With his Wally McCarthy’s Oldsmobile Dealership until 1999 when his property was taken under the controversial Eminent Domain. This property is now the world headquarters for Best Buy. Wally then moved his office to his present location of 2325 Prior Avenue N., in Roseville, MN He currently owns Wally McCarthy’s Cadillac & Hummer in Roseville, Wally McCarthy’s Chevrolet & Cadillac in Forest Lake and the Wally McCarthy’s Hummer in Rogers.
